Accessibility Improvements to Province House

The Department of Transportation and Public Works will begin upgrading and enhancing the Granville Street entrance of Province House this weekend, Nov. 12-13.

The project will consist of upgrading the rear walkway, replacing the back door with a power-assisted door, improving accessibility signage, and installing improved lighting in the area.

"The work will not affect the historical integrity of the building, but will ensure that access to Province House is safe and more convenient for everyone who visits," said Murray Scott, Speaker of the Nova Scotia legislature.

The majority of improvements are expected to be completed within five to eight days. Installation of the new doors is expected to be completed by Dec. 17. Further improvements to the interior of the building, such as improved washroom accessibility, are also planned for this year.
