Agricultural Hall of Fame Induction
AGRICULTURE/FISHERIES: Agricultural Hall of Fame Induction
Donald Stewart Cox of Truro was inducted into the Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame at a ceremony held today at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro.
Each year the Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame honours members of the agricultural community for outstanding contributions to the industry, community and farm organizations.
"Mr. Cox is a fine addition to the Hall of Fame," said Ernest L. Fage, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, who attended the ceremony. "Throughout his career, he has promoted agriculture, and encouraged new ideas and programs that helped develop the industry. My sincere congratulations to Mr. Cox and his family."
Mr. Cox had a long and successful career as an Agricultural Representative and provincial Swine Specialist with the former Department of Agriculture and Marketing. In addition, he has been a life-long supporter of the provincial 4-H Program and, since his retirement in 1986, has volunteered his time with many agricultural groups and organizations.
Born in Princeport, Colchester County, Mr. Cox was nominated for the Hall of Fame by Pork Nova Scotia.
This year's inductees from the other Atlantic Provinces include the late Allan Saunders, New Brunswick; the late Thomas Brown, Newfoundland; and Eric Hammill, Prince Edward Island.
The Hall of Fame is located in Cumming Hall on the Agricultural College campus.
