Cease and Desist Order

The Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board announced today that it has taken action to end an illegal work stoppage which began on Sept. 7, 2000, involving a number of employees of Sydney Steel Corp.

The complaint was filed with the board on Oct. 5, 2000, and requested that the board issue a Cease and Desist Order against certain employees of Sydney Steel Corp. who are members of the United Steelworkers of America, Local 1064.

An interim order has been issued by the board directing all employees of Sydney Steel Corp. who are participating in the illegal work stoppage to cease and desist and to return to work at their next regularly scheduled shift and perform their lawful duties as assigned by the employer.
