TOURISM/CULTURE Canada Council Art Bank Touring Maritimes
The Department of Tourism and Culture is hosting an exhibit of 100 works from the Canada Council's Art Bank program, Sept. 19- 21.
More than 18,000 paintings, prints, photographs and sculptures make the Canada Council Art Bank the largest collection of contemporary Canadian art in the country. The works, by over 2,500 artists, are available for rent by corporations, institutions, government departments and agencies.
"We're delighted to welcome these mostly Maritime works to Halifax and to host the Canada Council during its time here," said Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism and Culture. "This is a complementary program to our own Nova Scotia Art Bank and will strengthen the ties between our two agencies."
The artworks will be on display for art bank clients and members of the public at the department's Cultural Affairs Division, 1800 Argyle St., fourth floor, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The exhibit will visit Charlottetown and Moncton following the Halifax stop.
