NEW WORK

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Bridge Replacement, Coxheath Road

There will be no through traffic on the Coxheath Road, between the Blacketts Lake and Gillis Lake intersections, beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 6. Work includes replacement of a bridge on the Coxheath Road. The road will re-open to through traffic on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Detours will be available.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Bridge Replacement, West Big Interval Road

The Levis Bridge on West Big Interval Road is closed to traffic while a new structure is completed. Work is expected to be completed on Friday, Sept. 8. A detour is available via the East Big Interval and Hatchery roads.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: East Prince Street and Old Salmon River Road

Traffic will be reduced to one lane at the intersection of East Prince Street and Old Salmon River Road while paving and improvements are made to the intersection. Traffic will be required to stop for periods during construction and obey traffic control staff on site. Work will begin on Monday, Sept. 4, and is expected to be completed by Saturday, Sept. 30.

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Route 337

Route 337, from the end of 1999 upgrading northerly for approximately 3.4 kilometres, will be reduced to one lane for grading, gravelling, pulverization and asphalt concrete repaving. Work commenced on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is expected to be completed on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Highway 125

Highway 125 near Sydney River will be reduced to one lane for upgrading. Work commenced on Monday, Aug. 21, and takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is expected to be completed on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102

Highway 102 northbound lanes in Hants County, from Exit 3 at Hammonds Plains Road, to Exit 4B at Highway 101/Bedford, including exit and entrance ramps, will be reduced to one lane for bridge rehab work. Work commenced on Friday, Aug. 25, and is expected to be completed on Friday, Oct. 20. Please use alternate routes to avoid delay.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Route 224

Route 224, from Route 336 to the Moose River/Mooseland Road in Colchester County, will be reduced to one lane for ditching, culverts, asphalt patching and repaving. Work commenced on Wednesday, July 26, and takes place between 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. It is expected to be completed on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Route 224

Route 224, from the Moose River/Mooseland Road to the Musquodoboit Valley High School in Colchester County, will be reduced to one lane for ditching, culverts, asphalt patching and repaving. Work commenced on Wednesday, July 26, 2000, and takes place between 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. It is expected to be completed on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 211

Route 211, from the Country Harbour Ferry to Trunk 7, will be reduced to one lane for pulverization, gravelling and asphalt concrete repaving. The work commenced on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is expected to be completed on Sunday, Oct. 15.

HALIFAX COUNTY: Trunk 2

Trunk 2, from Sunnylea Road, north to Highway 102 overpass at Enfield, will have lane closures for cold planing and asphalt concrete repaving. The work commenced on Monday, July 17, and takes place between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. it is expected to be completed on Thursday, Sept. 21. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays during the construction project.

HALIFAX COUNTY: West Ship Harbour and Clam Bay Road

The West Ship Harbour and Clam Bay Roads in Halifax County, from Trunk 7 easterly to Little Harbour Road, will be reduced to one lane for asphalt concrete repaving. The work commenced on Monday, Aug. 21, and takes place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is expected to be completed Tuesday, Oct. 31.

HANTS COUNTY: Shubenacadie River Structure

The Shubenacadie River Structure in Hants County will be reduced to one lane for bridge rehabilitation. Work commenced on Monday, July 24, and takes place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. It is expected to be completed Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The Cabot Trail in the Lake O'Law area will be reduced to one lane for repaving and other repairs. Work commenced on Monday, July 17, and takes place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. it is expected to be completed on Sunday, Oct. 15.

INVERNESS COUNTY: MacKay Bridge, Whycocomagh The MacKay Bridge on Trans-Canada Highway 105, 200 metres west of Route 223, will be reduced to one lane for bridge repairs. Traffic lights are in effect. Work commenced on Tuesday, July 4, and is expected to be completed on Friday, Sept. 15.

PICTOU COUNTY: Route 289

Construction on the Balfour (Elmer) Bridge, located just north of the Maritimes North East Pipeline crossing on Route 289 in New Lairg, Pictou County, from the Montreal Road to the Lansdowne Road, will be closed to traffic for four days due to construction. Work commenced on Monday, Aug. 21. A detour is available via Route 289, on the Montreal and Lansdowne roads.

QUEENS COUNTY: Charleston Bridge

The Charleston Bridge over the Medway River in Queens County is closed indefinitely due to an accident and bridge collapse. A detour is available from the bridge, south on Route 472 to Mill Village East and Trunk 3, then west on Trunk 3 to Route 474 along the Medway River Road and north to the bridge.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Forbes Point Road

Forbes Point Road will be reduced to one lane for pulverization, gravelling and asphalt concrete repaving. The work commenced on Tuesday, Aug. 22, and takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is expected to be completed on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
