Fundy Museum to Hold 2nd Annual Geological Symposium

The Fundy Geological Museum in Parrsboro will hold its 2nd Annual Geological Symposium, Sept. 15-17. This year's event will commemorate Abraham Gesner.

Dr. Gesner, who was born on May 2, 1797, in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's earliest geologists. He is most well known for developing the process of refining Albertite into kerosene. This symposium will address his life as well as his work.

The symposium will consist of a field trip to Albert Mines on Sept. 15, an all day conference about Abraham Gesner on Sept. 16, and a field trip to Spicer's Cove on Sept. 17.

The cost is $25 for each of the field trips, and $50 for the all- day conference. As well, a complete package can be purchased for $90 and a student package, which includes one field trip and the conference, can be purchased for $50. All prices include meals. Advanced reservations are necessary.
