Round 2 Begins in Surf League Action
Nova Scotia Surf League action begins Round 2 on Monday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. at Inverness Beach, Inverness Co., Cape Breton.
This round consists of four events: a surf swim, rescue board rescue race, rescue board race, and beach flags.
Cape Breton, Western Province, North Shore and Eastern Shore clubs are competing in the four-round league.
Western Province, winners in the first round, will again rely on Sean Dyer of Dartmouth and Nancy Witty of Wolfville for key contributions. Mr. Dyer and Ms. Witty combined to win the rescue board relay. For Eastern Shore, Danielle MacDonald of Port Hawkesbury will want to repeat her win in beach flags. She easily won this event in Round 1 at Melmerby Beach. The North Shore team will be hoping to improve on their fourth-place finish. Team captain Troy MacArthur of Sydney is confident his team's performance will improve as the season progresses.
"I think, ultimately, we can win this league," said Mr. MacArthur. "We've got good competitors for every type of discipline. It's just a matter of all being competitive in all events to bring about a more balanced effort."
