Maritime Museum Kit Identifies Tall Ships
N.S. MUSEUM Maritime Museum Kit Identifies Tall Ships
Thousands of photographs were taken at Tall Ships 2000, but many photographers are unable to identify all those ships when their pictures are returned.
But photographers should not despair as the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is coming to the rescue with its Identi-Ship Kit, a simple three-step process to identify the registered tall ships. It's available on the museum's website at maritime.museum.gov.ns.ca/tallships.html .
The museum originally developed the Identi-Ship system for the Parade of Sail in 1984. At that time, many people came through the museum doors trying to identify stacks of photos. The kit uses number of masts, hull colour and rig to quickly sort out the vessels. It also helps educate people on the different types of vessels and rigs found at events.
The museum's webpage also features a tall ship top ten list, a Guide to Ship Rigs, and handy tall ship links and sources.
