Public Consultation for Highway 125

The public is invited to Sydney River for an open house on plans to improve highway 125.

The session will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 29, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall, Sydney River. Staff from the Department of Transportation and Public Works will be there to answer questions and give more details on the plans.

The public will be able to review the plans to twin the highway between Balls Creek (exit 4) and Kings Road (exit 6), as well as the proposed interchange ramps at the Coxheath Road underpass.

Public consultations are a vital part of the highway planning process and a good opportunity for the community to give their comments on such projects.

The highway 125 project is in the final planning stages. Actual construction depends on federal support. Highway 125 is part of the National Highway System and is eligible for funding from Ottawa. However, at this point, the federal government has not agreed to a cost-share deal with the province.
