Volunteers Sought for Tourism Council
TOURISM/CULTURE-Volunteers Sought for Tourism Council
Nova Scotia's Tourism Partnership Council has extended its deadline for membership applications. Tourism operators interested in helping shape how the province attracts and keeps visitors now have until Friday, June 9, to apply.
Volunteers are needed for the council, which works to develop, market and showcase the best of Nova Scotia.
The council is a successful model of industry and government working together to increase tourist visits and dollars spent in Nova Scotia. Council chair Doug Fawthrop says the partnership council has been effective in marketing the province at home and abroad, and it needs energetic people to help ensure continued success.
Established in May, 1998, the council includes 14 industry leaders and two representatives from the Department of Tourism and Culture. Applicants should be industry leaders and owners or operators of tourism-related businesses, and bring a province- wide perspective to the table. Applicants should also be supportive of, and participate in, council programs, be committed to the process, and be able to attend meetings on a regular basis.
Successful applicants will be expected to serve as council members for two years. Applicants should submit a resume outlining qualifications and relevant experience, together with a covering letter, to: Secretary to the Executive Council, PO Box 2125, One Government Place, 1700 Granville St., Halifax, N.S., B3J 3N7.
