Road Tenders Called in Five Counties
Tenders are being called on Wednesday, May 17, for road projects in Antigonish, Digby, Guysborough, Halifax and Victoria counties.
"Many of these roads and bridges being improved are important for our rural communities," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Getting a better riding surface on a route like the Cabot Trail can go a long way toward helping tourism in Nova Scotia.
"Our government is committed to improving our highways, particularly our secondary roads."
In Antigonish County, a tender is being called for micro- surfacing on the Trans-Canada Highway from Trunk 4 at Monastery westerly for about 10 kilometres.
In Digby County, a tender is being called for grading and gravelling on the South Range Cross Road, from the end of 1998 test section, northwesterly for about one kilometre.
In Guysborough and Victoria counties, a tender is being called for seal coating in the following three sections:
- Section 1: Trunk 16 Guysborough County from the Antigonish/Guysborough County Line towards Boylston for about 11 kilometres
- Section 2: Route 211, Guysborough County from West Side Indian Harbour Road to Sonora Road for about five kilometres
- Section 3: Cabot Trail (Trunk 30), Victoria County from Cape North to Big Intervale for about 11 kilometres
In Halifax County, a tender is being called for surface preparation and protective coatings on the Salmon River Bridge on Trunk 7.
In Victoria County, a tender is being called for surface preparation and protective coatings on the Trans-Canada Highway, Lower Middle River Bridge.
The tenders for Antigonish, Guysborough and Victoria counties will close on Tuesday, June 6. The tenders for Digby, Halifax and Victoria counties will close on Friday, June 2. The work in Antigonish and Guysborough and Victoria counties are expected to be completed by Tuesday, Aug. 15. The work in Halifax and Victoria counties are expected to be completed by Saturday, Sept. 30.
