Premier John Hamm Welcomes Announcement

Premier John Hamm today welcomed, and applauded, the appointment of Myra Freeman as the next lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia.

"I know Myra Freeman to be a woman of exceptional ability, energy and dedication to her family, her community, her faith and her province," said Premier Hamm. "I applaud the prime minister's choice for those reasons and also because this appointment symbolizes the open, diverse and inclusive nature of our modern province."

Premier Hamm also extended, on behalf of all Nova Scotians, heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Lt.-Gov. James Kinley and Mrs. Kinley, who have represented and served the province with charm, grace, dignity and wit during six years at Government House.
