Premier Signs Volunteer Proclamation

Premier John Hamm has signed a proclamation declaring April 9-15 as Provincial Volunteer Week in Nova Scotia.

The week will celebrate and recognize the efforts of volunteers across the province.

The premier was joined at the signing on Thursday, April 6, by Paul D'Eon and Dawn Stegen, president and executive director respectively of Recreation Nova Scotia.

During Provincial Volunteer Week, communities will pay tribute to volunteers and reflect upon the countless ways volunteers help individuals and organizations.

It is fitting for Nova Scotians to join in this celebration of our rich volunteer heritage and to give special recognition to dedicated volunteers and volunteer programs which contribute to communities throughout the province.

Volunteers, increasingly recognized as an important partner with government and industry in providing services to citizens, are one of Nova Scotia's greatest natural resource.

The Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission provides support to volunteers through leadership development. It is also the principal sponsor of the Voluntary Awards Ceremonies.
