Injunction Against Blockade Truckers

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS -Injunction Against Blockade Truckers

A judge in Halifax has granted the provincial government an injunction against truckers blockading the border between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The injunction covers all public property across the province.

The RCMP has been meeting with the truckers in Amherst to try to end the illegal blockade.

The truckers set up the blockade early Monday and have only been allowing cars and small trucks through. They have blocked all transport trucks, carrying such things as perishable foods and industrial products.

The truckers have demanded Nova Scotia and New Brunswick remove tolls from highways and lower prices for fuel.

The blockade has affected scores of businesses and industries, from pharmacies to grocery stores to clothing stores, all over the Maritimes.
