Governor General to Visit Nova Scotia

Gov. Gen. Adrienne Clarkson is making her first official visit to Nova Scotia this week and several communities throughout the province are delighted to be her host, Premier John Hamm said today.

"On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I would like to welcome the Governor General to our province," said Mr. Hamm. "We are looking forward to sharing our unique culture and heritage with Ms. Clarkson over the next several days."

From Feb. 17 to 22, the Governor General and her husband, John Ralston Saul, will visit Halifax, Dartmouth, Sydney and Cheticamp. Several activities are planned, with highlights including an official ceremony at Province House in Halifax, a ceilidh at Centre 200 in Sydney, an authentic Acadian lunch in Cheticamp, and a visit to Pier 21 in Halifax.
