Wrap Up in Nova Scotia Quilts
The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design is hosting a craft display called Wrap Up In Winter, featuring Nova Scotia quilts.
Wrap Up In Winter, available at the centre from Jan. 19 to March 15, promotes a variety of quilting products such as wall hangings, tea and coffee cozies, pictorial and pattern images. A variety of quilting techniques are also features including applique, reverse applique, embroidery and silk ribbon embroidery.
The display celebrates the Year of the Quilt theme for 2000 and is part of the centre's ongoing Production Crafts Display Program. The program focuses on enabling the public to look at the range and quality of crafts produced in Nova Scotia without the pressure to buy. Information is made available for people who wish to know where the products can be purchased.
Warm Up In Winter features work from quilters from around the province including Jamie Pratt of Purcell's Cove, Katherine Higgins of Fall River, Linda Finley, Meredith Annett, Marilyn Turner, and Ruth Edsall of Halifax, and Rosemary Willett of Bedford.
Warm Up In Winter can be viewed at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, 1683 Barrington Street, Halifax. The centre is open from Monday to Friday, bewteen 8:30 am and 4:30 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is by donation.
