Cease and Desist Orders

The Construction Industry Panel of the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board announced that it has taken action to end two illegal work stoppages which began today, Dec. 15.

The work stoppages involved a number of employees of Sayers & Associates Ltd. of Dartmouth, N.S., and Acadia Electric Ltd. of Moncton, N.B. The employees were working at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital site.

The complaints were filed today and the panel was asked to issue cease and desist orders against certain employees of Sayers & Associates Ltd. who are members of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, Local 409, and certain employees of Acadia Electric Ltd. who are members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 625.

Interim orders have been issued by the panel directing all employees of Sayers & Associates Ltd. and all employees of Acadia Electric Ltd. who are participating in the illegal work stoppages to cease and desist and to return to work at their next regularly scheduled shift and perform their lawful duties as assigned by the employer.
