Cease and Desist Order--Municipal Ready Mix Ltd.

The construction industry panel of the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board announced today that it has taken action to end an illegal work stoppage which commenced on Oct. 25, 1999, involving a number of employees of Municipal Ready Mix Ltd.

The complaint was filed with the panel on Nov. 2, 1999, requesting that the panel issue a cease and desist order against certain employees of Municipal Ready Mix Ltd., who are members of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 721, United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America, Local 1588, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 927, and Labourers' International Union of North America, Local 1115.

An interim order has been issued by the panel directing all employees of Municipal Ready Mix Ltd. who are participating in the illegal work stoppage to cease and desist and to return to work at their next regularly scheduled shift and perform their lawful duties as assigned by the employer.
