Board Issues Cease and Desist Order

The Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board has taken action today to end an illegal work stoppage in Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

An application was filed with the board today requesting that it issue a cease and desist order against certain members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 933.

The board has issued an interim order directing those members of Local 933 taking part in an illegal work stoppage to cease and desist and to return to work at their next regularly scheduled shift.

The application was filed by Cape Breton Regional Municipality after certain members of Local 933 honoured a picket line today established by members of Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 759. Members of both locals are employed by the regional municipality.
