Cold-blooded Alternative on In-service Day
The Museum of Natural History is gearing up for the provincewide in-service day on Friday, Oct. 22, with Jacques Babineau and the Reptile Show.
Parents and schoolchildren wondering what to do on their day off and over the weekend can join Jacques and his amazing friends.
The Reptile Show is an unique opportunity to see animals like iguanas, a four-metre Burmese python and a selection of exotic turtles from around the world.
"Children enjoy seeing the big snakes for sure, but most importantly they leave the show with better sense and appreciation of these animals, their behaviours and habitats," said Stephen Archibald, interpretation manager at the museum.
In addition to reptiles over this special three-day weekend, the museum is hosting Working Miniatures: the 14th Atlantic Model Engineering Society's Show. This display is an incredible collection of authentically scaled working-models like steam locomotives, traction engines, hit and miss' gas engines and other items with mechanical workings, such as clocks.
So slither down to the museum and you might get to hold a python.
Tickets to the Reptile Show are $3 per person. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, showtimes are 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The museum gallery hours are Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is free to displays and the Working Miniature show. For more information, call 902-424-7353.
