New Housing and Municipal Affairs Minister

Antigonish MLA Angus MacIsaac has been appointed to John Hamm's cabinet as Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs, the premier announced today.

"Mr. MacIsaac brings a broad perspective and a wealth of experience to the cabinet table," said Mr. Hamm. "We are fortunate in that Nova Scotians elected an array of talented people to the government side of the House."

Mr. MacIsaac served previously in the legislature, representing Guysborough, from 1969 to 1972. He returned to the House of Assembly in July, this time representing the people of Antigonish.

He taught high school in Guysborough and in Antigonish and is a woodlot owner, Christmas tree farmer, blueberry grower and maple syrup producer.

A long-term volunteer with minor hockey associations and the Canadian Association for Community Living, Mr. MacIsaac and his wife Mary Ann have two children.

Premier Hamm noted that Mr. MacIsaac's appointment reaffirms the government's commitment to reduce the size of cabinet, which totaled 14 under the previous government.
