Provincial Roads Returning to Normal

Transportation and Public Works crews have been working round the clock and things are returning to normal on the province's roads and highways.

In the aftermath of record rainfalls over the past 48 hours, roads in Cumberland, Queens, Hants and Digby counties were closed because of flooding and flood-related damage, and some roads in Halifax County suffered minor washout damage.

All major highways and roads in the province have reopened, with exceptions in Cumberland and Digby counties where flood waters have not yet subsided or where there is extensive flood damage.

Transportation and Public Works is working to ensure that all roads are safe and passable, and that people in rural areas have access to their homes and communities. Highway crews will be working throughout the weekend assessing and repairing damaged sections.
