Traffic Advisory, Road Warnings

Roads throughout the province have been damaged by heavy rains over the past 24 hours. Following is a list of roads that have been affected. This is not a comprehensive list. Motorists seeking information about local roads should contact the Transportation and Public Works base in their area by calling toll-free at 1-888-432-3233. Cellular telephone users can reach the local base by calling #3233.

DIGBY COUNTY

  • Highway 217, Digby Neck at Seawall Hill, is flooded, covering an area of about 200 metres to a depth of 600 millimetres in places. The shoulders have been washed out. Staff are assessing the road to determine if there has been any undermining of the pavement.
  • The Fort Point Road was closed. There has been some asphalt washed out. There are still sections of the road that are under water.
  • The New Road in Weymouth is barricaded due to washed-out sections.
  • A number of roads in the Weymouth area have eroded shoulders and will require repairs to the asphalt surface.
  • Sections of the Gulliver's Cove Road are flooded.

  • Windsor Back Road, flooding. Route 215, Brooklyn to Newport Corner, flooding.
  • Trunk 14 (Chester Road), approaching Brooklyn, flooding.

Numerous roads throughout Cumberland County have been affected by flooding and wash-outs due to heavy rainfall. Motorists are advised to exercise caution.
