Hamm Admires Purves's Courage

Following is a statement issued today by Premier John Hamm:

Ever since I met Jane Purves, I have respected her for her forthright manner, her obvious integrity and her many accomplishments. Today, I admire her courage.

Twenty years ago, Jane regained her life from drug addiction. Her desire to contribute in a meaningful way to her province was strong enough that she was willing to risk, and now endure, an invasion of her personal privacy. That speaks to her outstanding character.

I was aware of her past problems from the time she decided to seek office.

Needless to say, she continues to have my respect and full support, and that of her cabinet and caucus colleagues.
