Department To Hire Nursing Policy Advisor

Minister of Health Jamie Muir said today the Department of Health will hire a full-time nursing policy advisor.

Working closely with the deputy minister, the advisor will provide advice to the department on the nursing perspective of health policy issues and all programs and policy issues relating to or affecting nurses.

"Hiring a nursing policy advisor fulfills a commitment made by this government to address the critical shortage of nurses in this province," said Minister Muir. "This new position will complement the existing expertise within the department."

The advisor's duties will also include working with members of the nursing community to develop effective strategies to retain, recruit and retrain nurses.

The advertisement for the new position will be posted for the next two weeks in government's Employment Opportunities Bulletin. The salary is under review.
