4-H Members on Interprovincial Exchange

The 37th annual Royal Bank of Canada 4-H Interprovincial Exchange program is currently under way across Canada. Five Nova Scotia 4-H members will be travelling to various parts of Canada on this two-week National 4-H Award Program.

The Nova Scotia delegates were selected through an interview process based on their 4-H and community involvement. Katie Grist of the Bras d'Or area, Cape Breton Co., will be travelling to Alberta. Ben Seamone of New Germany, Lunenburg Co., is being hosted in Quebec. Sharon MacDonald of Heatherton, Antigonish Co., won the travel award to Ontario. Elizabeth Banks of Bear River, Digby Co., will be travelling to Manitoba, and Adam Biggs of Wolfville, Kings Co., heads to Saskatchewan.

The travel program is designed to provide delegates with an opportunity to experience customs and lifestyles in another province. It is also a forum to exchange ideas and information on agriculture.

"It is wonderful that 4-H members are able to develop an understanding and an appreciation of other Canadians and their 4-H programs through this program," said Ed Lorraine, Minister of Agriculture and Marketing. "I am confident that these 4-H members will be excellent ambassadors for our 4-H program and the province of Nova Scotia. This is a great way to repay these youths for their contribution to our communities "

The Atlantic 4-H delegates are guests of Clayton Coveyduck, senior vice-president of the Royal Bank, at a farewell banquet this evening, July 5, in Halifax.

Nova Scotia 4-H families will host four delegates while the Nova Scotia delegates are in other parts of Canada. The 4-H members from Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba will experience Nova Scotia's hospitality and learn more about the 4-H program in this province.
