Film School Program Manager Named

A program manager has been hired to complete the final phase of a film school feasibility study for Nova Scotia.

Catherine Martin will be responsible for moving the study into its final stage. That stage will involve forming strong links between a number of sectors, developing a business plan and designing and presenting proposals on a film school.

Ms. Martin is an established film-maker, has a masters degree in education from Mount Saint Vincent University and has been working in education since 1991.

"Pulling together members of the education, film and television, and government sectors will be a crucial function of the program manager," said Ann MacKenzie, chief executive officer of Nova Scotia Film Development Corp. "I'm confident that Catherine's abilities will enable her to rise to the challenge."

Ms. Martin will work out of the corporation's office beginning today, and will report to a steering committee comprising key representatives from the film and education sectors.

The film school study is an initiative undertaken by industry, education and government to address Nova Scotia's need and desire for a world-class educational program in screen arts.

The study is funded by the Canada/Nova Scotia COOPERATION Agreement on Economic Diversification.
