Road Improvement Contracts Awarded
Two major road improvement contracts have been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
"When we invest in our roads, we're investing in safety and growth for Nova Scotia," said Clifford Huskilson, Minister of Transportation and Public Works.
Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. is the successful contractor that will repave about 4.5 kilometres of Highway 105 on Kelly's Mountain in Victoria County, westerly from New Campbellton Road. A new left-turn lane is also being constructed as part of the contract on Highway 105 at New Harris Road. Total value of this project is $1.144 million.
K.C. MacPhee Contracting Ltd. was the successful low bidder for a contract for sand resealing on about 145 kilometres of secondary roads in western Nova Scotia: -30 kilometres in Kings County -13.9 kilometres in Queens County -92.6 kilometres in Lunenburg Centre and West -8.6 kilometres in Chester Municipality The contract is valued at $509,220.
Sand resealing is a surface treatment of tar and sand that improves the riding surface and helps keep dust down on gravel roads.
