Community Report on New Website
Transportation and Public Works builds an electronic link to Nova Scotia's infrastructure with the launch today of its new website and the release of the TPW Community Report.
"The two launches go hand in hand," said Clifford Huskilson, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The Community Report and website are both designed to give better access to our information and services. We're a big department taking care of roads and buildings across Nova Scotia. These tools give the public a better understanding of our jobs and the dedicated people who work here."
The new website, at www.gov.ns.ca/tran, was constructed with the public in mind. Browsers will be able to quickly locate facts such as current highway construction, traffic advisories, and weather and road conditions.
There's also key background information such as how the department sets priorities and how to apply for permits or for surplus government property. Specialized information for audiences such as truckers and contractors can also be found on the site.
The 16-page Community Report outlines some key accomplishments of the department and features the work of a number of employees. It is available online. A printed copy is available from Transportation and Public Works by e-mail at [email protected], by fax 902-424-0532 or by calling 902-424-8687.
"The people in Transportation and Public Works cover the spectrum from engineers and architects to snowplow operators, mechanics and accountants," said Mr. Huskilson. "Despite financial pressures, staff from Cape North to Cape Sable care about the jobs they do for Nova Scotians. That's what our Community Report is about --our work, our strengths, our people, our province."
