Inspectors Take Samples from Frederick Street Homes

Department of Environment inspectors have taken samples from Sydney area homes after an orange-coloured substance was found in two Frederick Street basements.

Environment Minister Michel Samson said initial test results of the substance will be available next week and comprehensive results will be ready within 10 days.

"Once we have the test results in hand we will notify the residents and take action accordingly," said Mr. Samson.

Mr. Samson said the Environment Department will work with the Department of Transportation and Public Works, the lead agency, on this issue.

Environment inspectors responded within hours to reports of the substance.
