Foodland Stores Help Promote 4-H

AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--Foodland Stores Help Promote 4-H

  • ---------------------------------------------------------------Various Foodland stores across the province have joined forces with the provincial 4-H program as part of the stores' two-year effort to support local and rural community organizations.

The stores offer 4-H clubs space to set up displays and talk to customers about the program and its activities. They also print the 4-H logo on flyers and donate to local clubs.

"We were pleased when the people from Foodland approached us about having the clubs be part of its promotional campaign to support local organizations," said Liz Crouse, manager of 4-H and Rural Organizations with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing. "This is a wonderful way to get out the 4-H message and I want to thank Foodland for its support of rural organizations."

Foodland has 28 stores in the Maritimes; 24 are in Nova Scotia. Many of the stores are in small and rural communities with owners and workers living in the same communities as their customers.

"The 4-H program is an integral part of many of the communities where our stores are, so it was a perfect choice for us to highlight," said Bernie McInnis, general manager of Foodland, which operates the stores in the region. "We wanted to support 4-H with a donation and by providing an opportunity for 4-H members to tell people why the program is so valuable to the community and the development of our young people. It's a win-win situation for Foodland and 4-H."

To date, 4-H clubs will have displays at the following Foodland stores:
