Fire Destroys Plow at Antigonish

An early-morning fire at the Antigonish Transportation and Public Works shed destroyed a snow plow. There were no injuries or structural damage to the building.

Transportation and Public Works crew discovered the fire at the multi-bay garage at around 5 a.m. Flames were contained to the 1981 FWD plow. An electrical malfunction in the plow appears to be the cause.

"This particular plow was used during major snowfalls," said area manager Roger Garby. "We do not expect this loss to cause any disruption in service."

Cleanup of the area has started and the garage should be back in service by the end of today. An estimate of damages has not yet been calculated.
