Architecture Awards Exhibition Announced
Nova Scotia architecture past and present takes centre stage next month at the Mary E. Black Gallery in Halifax.
The Nova Scotia Association of Architects today announced that a showing of the winning designs of the 1999 Lieutenant-Governor's Design Awards in Architecture and an exhibition titled 250 Years of Art in Architecture: Halifax will open April 1 at 8 p.m. The gallery is at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, 1683 Barrington St.
Drawings and representations of the winning architects' work will be on display, as well as photographs of art in new and old architecture in Halifax. Terry Smith-Lamothe is curator of the 250 Years of Art in Architecture exhibit.
The exhibition will be opened by Lt.-Gov. John James Kinley and Mrs. Grace Kinley.
The show runs through April 24. The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design is a program/resource centre of the Department of Education and Culture, and is operated by the Department's Cultural Affairs Division. The centre is a catalyst in the development of designers and craft persons as well as functioning as a visitor destination site.
