Richmond Academy Sites Still Being Considered
The site selection process for the new Richmond Academy will not be finalized until environmental concerns are ruled out, according to Education and Culture Minister Wayne Gaudet.
Mr. Gaudet said a review of the environmental issues is being carried out to determine whether the Louisdale site is acceptable.
The minister has given conditional approval to the Louisdale site, pending the review. However, other options are still available if the site proves unacceptable.
"Of course we would never build a school on a site which presented significant environmental issues. If the site is found to be unacceptable, the process can be reopened so an appropriate site can be found," said Mr. Gaudet.
Construction of the new Richmond Academy is scheduled to begin this spring.
