Spring Weight Restrictions

Spring weight restrictions on Nova Scotia roads will be introduced earlier this year than in the past because of continuing mild weather.

Clifford Huskilson, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, has determined that the 1998 spring weight restriction period will begin across the province at one minute after midnight on March 1.

A public highways spring closing notice will be published in newspapers Feb. 23. A list of roads exempt from spring weight restrictions will be published with the notice. The road exemption list will be available at district and area offices of the Department of Transportation and Public Works, and at provincial scale houses.

The minister has the right to revise the zones, weight restrictions, dates and the list of exempt roads as conditions warrant.
