Rally for Team Nova Scotia

Team Nova Scotia will be the centre of attention at a 1999 Canada Winter Games send-off rally to be held at the Grand Parade, Halifax, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.

Nova Scotians are invited to join more than 300 uniformed athletes, coaches, managers, cultural representatives and mission staff at the rally, hosted by the Canada Games Management Group and the Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission.

"We're ready for the Rock," said Mike Bell, chef de mission for Team Nova Scotia. "The rally is a great opportunity for everyone to meet the team, share the excitement, and give the team a rousing send-off."

Following the team parade, emcee Bruce Rainnie will introduce the speakers: Robbie Harrison, Minister responsible for Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation; mayor designate Coun. Sheila Fougere; chef de mission Mike Bell; and Team Nova Scotia's flag-bearer, Matthew Ryan. There will be refreshments, music by Barnacle and fireworks.

Team Nova Scotia is funded by the Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission and managed by the volunteer-based Canada Games Management Group.

The 1999 Canada Winter Games will be held Feb. 20-March 6 in Corner Brook, Nfld.
