Launches New Acadian Publication
Looking into Acadie: 3 Illustrated Studies, a Nova Scotia Museum publication, gives Nova Scotians a new look at the history of Acadians.
It features newly-published research on Acadians by archaeologist Birgitta Wallace Ferguson, historian Brenda Dunn, and educator Sally Ross. Ms. Ferguson and Ms. Dunn have recently retired from Parks Canada. Ms. Ross is the co-author of The Acadians of Nova Scotia, Past and Present/Les Acadiens de la Nouvelle Ecosse, hier et aujourd'hui.
The three articles in the new report were originally presented in 1997 as an illustrated talk during the Nova Scotia Museum program "Celebrating Acadie."
The 160 illustrations include maps, drawings, paintings, objects, historical photographs, models and documents from many collections in Canada and Europe.
Beginning Jan. 27, the publication will be available in English and French for $18 from the Museum Shop, Museum of Natural History or by calling the toll-free order line at 1-800-632-1114.
