Training Software Presented to N.S.

ITC Learning Corp. has turned more than $1 million in training software over to the Province of Nova Scotia.

Don Downe, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance, accepted the software from Carl Stevens, president and CEO of ITC of Virginia, and Wendy Berney, president of ITC Canada, at the Canadian Embassy in Washington. Mr. Downe led a trade delegation of 20 information technology and aerospace companies to the American capital earlier this month for meetings with the Washington-area business community and one-on-one meetings with potential clients.

"ITC Learning has given our provincial education system a boost with this library of interactive CD-ROM training programs," said Mr. Downe. "The Nova Scotia government is pleased to partner with ITC to make the software available to our school system."

Students at the Nova Scotia Community College and in Primary through Grade 12 will have free access to more than $1.2 million worth of ITC multimedia software and training libraries for the next two years.

Some of the "courseware" titles were developed at ITC Canada's Halifax office, formerly Mentor Networks, which employs more than 40 software programmers and developers. The award-winning training focuses on skills development for manufacturing and business environments. An agreement between Economic Development and Tourism and ITC provides the province with access to ITC's process and manufacturing multimedia training library of more than 150 titles.

"We are pleased to continue and expand our business relationship and commitment to the people of Nova Scotia," said Mr. Stevens, ITC president. "By using this training, students will develop new and relevant skills that will help them obtain employment or become more effective in their jobs. We are proud to be a part of this initiative and are committed to its success.

Ms. Berney of ITC Canada added: "We are excited about the opportunity to participate in preparing the people of Nova Scotia for tomorrow's jobs. The ITC products will be a tremendous asset to the province in building a world-class competitive workforce.
