Old-Fashioned Christmas At Sherbrooke Village

Celebrate the holiday season in Sherbrooke as Sherbrooke Village, St. Mary's Tourism Association and the people of Sherbrooke present their third annual Old-Fashioned Christmas weekends, Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 4-6.

"An Old-Fashioned Christmas brightens the lives of hundreds of people in Nova Scotia and beyond," said Sonny Alexander, chairman of the St. Mary's Tourist Association. "It's an event that's having a significant impact on tourism in what would usually be considered the off-season."

Sherbrooke is alive with the sights and sounds of Christmas on these special weekends. Visitors can create treasured memories as they enjoy Christmas shopping, memorable dining, entertainment and accommodation.

At Sherbrooke Village, visitors can take part in the official lighting ceremony and finish the evening at a community carol sing. Daytime events at the historical village range from traditional Christmas breakfast to tours of decorated houses, a Victorian tea and a children's Christmas scavenger hunt. Throughout the weekends, special activities include a Christmas tree-lighting, a village street parade, a Christmas ceilidh and a holiday dinner theatre.

Visitors can plan to attend selected events on either weekend; admission fees vary. Special packages including all activities and accommodations for one or two nights are also available (1 night: $109/person, $155/double occupancy, tax included; or 2 nights: $167/person; $213/double occupancy, tax included). For a complete schedule of events or reservations, call Holly toll-free at 1-888-743-7845.
