Film School Models
Two committees of the Film School Feasibility Study Group have developed models for structuring and financing a film school in Nova Scotia.
The curriculum committee, chaired by David Clark of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and the finance committee, chaired by Ken MacIntosh of the Royal Bank of Canada, are now refining the models for discussion in broader consultations.
"This work is very encouraging for the film community in Nova Scotia," said Bonita Kirby, chair of the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation board of directors.
"The process is very complex and the people on these committees have put in a lot of effort to bring us to this point. We're making real progress here."
The committees are due to present their refined models to the Film School Feasibility Study Group on Dec. 15. The group is optimistic that a program will be in place by the fall of next year and a full slate of courses will be offered by 2000.
The film school feasibility study is being funded by the Canada/Nova Scotia COOPERATION Agreement on Economic Diversification.
