Mediator Appointed in Cove Guest Home Labour Dispute

Labour Minister Russell McKinnon has appointed Pictou lawyer Milton Veinot to mediate the current labour dispute at The Cove Guest Home in Sydney.

"I am appointing Mr. Veinot to assist with the speedy resolution of the current labour relations dispute," Mr. McKinnon said. "Mr. Veinot is a noted arbitrator."

Mr. MacKinnon said while he fully supports the collective agreement process, growing concerns with the on-going labour dispute, particularly as it relates to patient care, caused him to accelerate the process.

"I am taking this step, which is part of the dispute resolving mechanism, to ensure that these matters are resolved quickly and to ensure that patient care, which is foremost in the minds of both parties, is not interrupted."
