Valley Representative to Open Office
Mike Trinacty, an experienced health educator and recreation director, will join the Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission as regional representative responsible for the Annapolis Valley, commission executive director Tony Martin announced today.
Mr. Trinacty's appointment, effective Nov. 30, will commence simultaneously with the reopening of the commission's office in Kentville.
"Mike's many years of experience in the western region will be a valuable asset in the commission's plans to provide better service to the Valley," said Mr. Martin. "His work in promoting active, healthy living and his excellent teaching and facilitation skills make Mike an ideal person to extend the level of Sport and Recreation's service in the Valley."
Mr. Trinacty has a bachelor of science degree in recreation management from Acadia University, Wolfville. He has served on Berwick town council, the Recreation Association of Nova Scotia, and Valley Recreation Directors/Co-ordinators Association. In addition, he has coached minor hockey, minor baseball and men's fastball.
Mr. Trinacty initiated the Western Region Heart Health Coalition, Kids Against Tobacco Smoke Program, Kings County Smoke Free Coalition, and Smoke Free West Hants.
The Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission provides policies, programs and services that maintain, enhance and create quality sport, recreation and fitness opportunities which improve health and contribute to the social and economic well-being of all Nova Scotians.
The Valley office will be at the Economic Development and Tourism office at 28 Aberdeen Ave., Kentville.
