Aquaculture Committee Selected
Members of an aquaculture committee selected to review development in Tatamagouche Bay represents a good cross-section of the community, says Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Keith Colwell.
The 20-member regional aquaculture development advisory committee, known as a RADAC, will meet as soon as possible. Mr. Colwell said he expects the group to deliver a recommendation 60 days after their first meeting.
"There were a lot of good candidates," said Mr. Colwell. "It was difficult, but we've done our best to choose a RADAC that represents the community."
The members are:

- Ron Heighton, president, Northumberland Fishermen's Association
- Philip Lynds, fisherman
- Byron MacKinnon, lobster fishermen
- Charles Cassidy, resident
- Sylvie Cloutier, resident landowner
- Peter Finley, resident, involved in tourism, real estate and regional development
- Susan Lavers, landowner, summer resident
- Sherri LeBlanc-Richard, seasonal resident representing land-based recreational interests
- John MacKay, seasonal resident involved in real estate
- Robert MacNeill, lifelong resident and recreational property owner
- Reginald Forbes, resident, owner of Forbes Brothers Ltd.
- Jim LeFresne, resident, owner of the Train Station Inn
- Stephen Johnson, corporate counsel for the TDL Group (Tim Horton's Children's Foundation)
- Eric MacKeen, resident, business owner
- David Langille, campground owner, fisherman
- Dana Hunter, boatbuilder, marina owner involved in recreational boating
- Robbie Robertson, seasonal resident, commodore of the Barrachois Harbour Yacht Club
- Cleve Sinclair, resident, vice-commodore of the Barrachois Harbour Yacht Club
- Charles Purdy, aquaculturalist
The committee has been formed to examine a proposal for a mussel farm in Tatamagouche Bay. The province will provide a facilitator for the group's first meeting to help in organization and to answer questions.
