Youth Corps Opens Rawdon Nature Walk

Environment (to Sept. 2000)

Environment Minister Don Downe congratulated the department's Youth Conservation Corps as it opened an interpretive nature walk at Rawdon.

"The youth corps has worked on this project all summer and has taken it from conception to reality," said Mr. Downe. "I want to congratulate the members for their hard work and thank them for their dedication to promoting an understanding of our environment with this natural trail."

The interpretive nature walk, at Rawdon District School, features signs to assist people in understanding more about the species and natural surroundings of the area. It was officially opened to the public this week.

The Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps is a program of the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment that provides opportunities for young Nova Scotians to obtain environmental employment and training through community projects. The Rawdon trail project is one of more than 40 youth corps initiatives in Nova Scotia.
