Conservation Corps Helps Collect 26 Bags of Garbage
Members of the Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps, in partnership with the Sackville Rivers Association and The Hardman Group Ltd., held a trash bash at First Lake in Lower Sackville on Saturday, Aug. 15.
Twenty-five people from the community and seven members of the Youth Conservation Corps spent four hours picking up litter between Sackville High School and First Lake beach. By the end of the day, they had collected 26 bags of garbage and a couple of bags of recyclable items, and the area was free of trash.
The conservation corps organized the event and greeted volunteers as they came along to help clean up their community. Through the generosity of area sponsors, volunteers were treated to a free barbecue and prizes for their enthusiasm and eagerness to help keep their community litter-free.
The Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps, Sackville Rivers Association and The Hardman Group Ltd. would like to thank all of the volunteers and sponsors who helped to make the trash bash a success.
