Partnership Council Seeks Input
The Nova Scotia Tourism Partnership Council is hitting the road to gather input for the 1999 provincial tourism marketing campaign.
The joint industry-government team will host a series of workshops across the province so that operators can help determine priorities for the 1999 campaign. The sessions in Baddeck, Stellarton, Halifax and Yarmouth will include a planning update; a discussion of issues; an opportunity for input into the 1999 plan and partnership opportunities program; and a discussion on the role of annual themes and special events.
Last year's plan called for increased efforts to attract visitors from key markets in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, New England and the mid-Atlantic states, and from developing markets in Quebec and Europe. Through another alliance with the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership, the province also targeted markets in the Midwest and south Atlantic states and in Japan. In addition, the province worked with the Canadian Tourism Commission and numerous industry partners on joint marketing initiatives.
The workshops will be held in:
- Baddeck, Aug. 18, at the Inverary Inn
- Stellarton, Aug. 19, at the Museum of Industry
- Halifax, Aug. 20, at the International Visitors Centre on Barrington Street
- Yarmouth, Aug. 25, at the Rodd Grand Hotel
The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Those interested in attending the workshops can register by contacting: Peggy Tibbo-Cameron, Tourism Strategy, by fax 902-424-0723, phone 902-424-0048, or e-mail [email protected] .
The council is also mailing out a detailed survey to stakeholders. People unable to attend the workshops are encouraged to respond to the written survey or to use the "feedback" section on the council's website at www.nstpc.com .
