Prescott House Museum Goes Pop

Nova Scotia Museum

For the first time Prescott House Museum, near Wolfville, hosts a free Pops Concert this weekend on the front lawn; a special performance for Nova Scotia's Year of Music.

Bring your family, a picnic basket and a blanket or chair, Sunday, Aug. 9 at 1:30 p.m and entertain your ears with music while sitting under the trees.

Just as Charles Ramage Prescott and, 100 years later, his great-granddaughter Mary Prescott enjoyed music in their days at Prescott House, you can too. The Pops Concert features performances by The Chester Brass Band, The Windsor Centennial Dixieland Jazz Band and the High Performance Barbershop Quartet. The varied musical program includes classical, popular, light, folk and Broadway melodies.

Support the local Big Brothers and Sisters in fundraising by buying a hotdog. Bands are able to travel to and perform at the Pops Concert with help from the law firm of Muttart, Tufts, DeWolfe and Coyle of Kentville and Stage Two Furniture and Appliances of Port Williams. The concert rain date is Sunday, Aug. 16.

The Georgian house, circa 1812, is surrounded by gardens and provides an elegant setting for the concert. Prescott House Museum is open daily from June 1 until Oct. 15. The museum is located outside Wolfville, at 1633 Starr's Point Road, Port Williams.
