Nova Scotia Manufacturers Guide
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/TOURISM-Nova Scotia Manufacturers Guide
The 1998-99 Nova Scotia Manufacturers Guide puts the Nova Scotia marketplace at your fingertips. And this year's guide is available on-line with a product search function.
Approximately 2,000 Nova Scotia manufacturers, large and small, established and emerging, are listed in the guide. Manufacturers, customers, suppliers and potential joint venture partners will find this publication an easy-to-use reference tool and product-sourcing document.
Of the nearly 10,000 copies produced, 4,000 copies are already in circulation promoting Nova Scotia's manufacturers and their products to suppliers across the province and to Canadian embassies, consulates and world trade centre offices around the world. It is available for public access at government service centres, regional development authorities, and for purchase, in print and on disk, at the Nova Scotia Government Bookstore.
"The Manufacturers Guide is a valuable component of our investment and trade efforts," said Economic and Tourism Minister Manning MacDonald. "It lets potential investors and trading partners know about the vast array of available products. And the provision of a searchable version on the Internet will help to expand our exports."
Mr. MacDonald said, "The guide is a useful marketing tool within Nova Scotia, too. It allows local manufacturers and suppliers to easily find each other and purchase each other's products. When Nova Scotia companies do business together, they help each other and the provincial economy, too."
A user survey circulated with this year's guide has produced quotes such as, "This is an all-round useful management tool," said one manufacturer. A distributor said, "Use guide to develop sales territories." And a consultant said, "One of Nova Scotia's better publications ... hats off for an excellent publication."
The guide is divided into six categories: alphabetic, geographic location, North American classification code, products, industrial parks and malls, and business information and contacts.
The Nova Scotia Government is helping to promote Nova Scotia manufacturers and their goods by providing limited access to the guide through the provincial government website. Internet users, locally and around the world, can find a Nova Scotia partner or supplier by accessing the product listings on the Web at http://www.gov.ns.ca/fina/stats.div/publish/pub01.htm.
The guide is a combined production of the Nova Scotia Department of Finance and Economic Development and Tourism.
