Tender Awarded for Tancook Island
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded a tender for the construction of timber cribs on Tancook Island.
The $270,000 tender, awarded to Redden Petroleum Ent. Limited, is for the building of two new cribs on the island. They will replace old cribs damaged by erosion at Southeast Cove, on the south side of Big Tancook Island.
One section, approximately 350 metres in length, will protect a beach-side road. The other, approximately 450 metres long, will protect a residential road from losing access to the rest of the island from continued erosion.
Seven other companies submitted bids on this contract. Work will be carried out this summer.
