Frederick Street Response Prepared
Clifford Huskilson, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, will lead the provincial government's efforts in response to concerns of Sydney residents living on Frederick Street.
The Cape Breton Environmental Group conducted a study of air, water and soil in the Frederick Street area. The preliminary analysis was shared with local residents of Frederick Street Tuesday. Further analysis is still to take place.
Mr. Huskilson said he will confer with the provincial ministers of Health, Environment, and Housing and Municipal Affairs to determine an appropriate response.
"I've spoken to the residents and I appreciate their concerns," said Mr. Huskilson. "We have to ensure we have all the facts so that we make the right decisions for the people of Frederick Street."
Mr. Huskilson said he will consult with the federal and municipal partners to ensure a timely and co-ordinated response that meets the needs of the people.
